The Lake Capote Bait Shop is open from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. during days of operation. If visitors arrive before or after operating hours there is a “self-permitting-station” located at the front of the building for guests to acquire either a fishing permit or a camping/RV permit. At times, employees will close the Bait Shop during operating hours to attend to maintenance objectives around the facility. If you need assistance please feel free to tour the facility until you find someone who can help you or wait and enjoy the scenery until one of our on-duty staff return to the Bait Shop.
Please be advised that operating days and hours are subject to change without notice based upon staffing changes.
Along with fishing and camping permits visitors can also find the following supplies and amenities at the Bait Shop:
- Public Restrooms (heated, clean, and private)
- Fish Cleaning Station
- Boat Rentals (paddle boats, canoes, and row boats) are currently unavailable.
- Docks accessing the west side of the Lake
- Food, Snacks & Drinks
- Fishing Supplies
- Emergency Public Phone (there is limited cell reception at Lake Capote)
Boat Rentals
Lake Capote has canoes, paddle boats, and row boats available for rent.
Permanent Flotation Devices (PFDs, life-jackets) are required for each individual in the boat.
PFDs are made available at the Bait Shop as part of your boat rental. There is no extra charge to use Lake Capote life-jackets.
